Accommodation Options

During the checkout process you will be asked to select from our 3 accommodation options:

• Standard Hostel (shared rooms)
• Private Hostel rooms (shared only with those you travel with)
• Hotel accommodation where you can select between double and twin rooms.

On our Locations page, you will find European cities in alphabetical order. Click into your desired cities and see the list of accommodation partners for that particular city.

We will pick your accommodation from our selection of partners in each city. This selection will come down to availability at the time of booking.
During high season we may use hotels/hostels outside of those listed. If you are not happy with any alternative partners provided please let us know and we will do our best to arrange for another option.

All our partners are approved by the local Tourist Authority, central to the city and close to amenities and public transport.

Booking Your Interrailing Package

When booking a pre-designed interrailing package, simply select the package you wish to buy, make the appropriate selections and proceed to checkout. You will be able to pay for your booking in full or pay a 25% deposit, then pay the remaining balance as and when you wish by logging in to your account.

If you have requested a custom package, you will be sent a unique link to your package and you then follow the same steps, pay for the booking in full or pay 25% deposit, then pay the remaining balance as and when you wish by logging in to your account.

Once you have selected your package and placed your booking we have a simple 4 step process:

1. Once we receive your deposit (25%) or full payment for your booking, we will send you a customer order form for completion, this is sent within 48 hours from your booking receipt.

2. On receipt of your returned forms, we will begin to book your trip and put together your E-Travel Pack. This usually takes 2-3 weeks but can take longer during busy season or if the booking isn’t until much later in the year.

3. On completion, we will send you access details to your E-Travel Pack via our App. At this stage, you will be able to view your itinerary, accommodation details, etc.

4. 8 Weeks before you go you will log in and pay your remaining trip balance. At this stage, we will issue your interrail pass which is delivered to the given address on the order form & reservations, and make any necessary updates to your itinerary.

CUSTOM INTERRAIL PLANNER

Have you had a look through our pre-designed interrailing packages and can’t decide which one to choose? Interrailing Travel Documents 

As an Interrailing Packages customer, most of your travel documents are included in an E-Travel pack, which is created after you have booked and added it to our App. You will then receive login instructions to access this.

Your E-Travel Pack includes:

Trip Itinerary: You will be provided with detailed train itineraries for your full trip. We provide all the information for your travels from departing time/station, right through to any change-overs involved and details of your reservations

Accommodation: For your arrival in each city, you are provided with a detailed set of instructions/directions on how to get to your accommodation from the arriving train station. We provide all details including bus numbers, metro lines, and simple walking instructions so that you arrive at your accommodation safely. Your accommodation address is detailed on both your itinerary & direction documents to help you along the way.

City Travel Guides: In order to assist you with your stay, InterrailingPackages put together a detailed travel guide on each of the cities you are visiting. This guide details the highlights of each city so you can experience the best of what’s on offer. Each guide includes the best attractions/sights to visit, along with relevant links to tours.

The Association of Bonded Travel Organisers Trust Limited (ABTOT) provides financial protection under The Package Travel and Linked Travel Arrangements Regulations 2018 for Interrailingpackages Ltd Membership 5351, and in the event of their insolvency, protection is provided for:

ABTOT cover provides for a refund in the event you have not yet travelled or repatriation if transportation was included in your package.  Please note that bookings made outside the UK are only protected by ABTOT when purchased directly with Interrailingpackages Ltd.

Our licensing agreement means that our packages do not cover flights, however, should you need flights we do offer a free flight assistance service where we will search for the cheaper options and send a link.

Payment Options: Full Balance or Instalments

Here at Interrailing Packages, we offer 2 options to pay for your package. Firstly, we offer the option to pay off your balance in full upon checkout. Or, if you don’t have the money to pay for a package in full right away, we offer a free instalment option to pay for your trip. All you need for the initial payment is a deposit of 25%, after this, you can log back into your own account and in your own time, pay as much or as little as you want off your trip. Full balance does need to be paid 8 weeks before your departure date. If you are booking a package to start within 6 weeks and want to pay a deposit, email us and we can discuss payment options.

Once you have made a payment, either full balance or deposit, you cannot add a discount to a package at a later stage.

Interrailingpackages regularly cater for groups of up to 50 travellers at any one time and our checkout system makes booking for groups so much easier. All you need to do is get one person in the group to book the trip, they select the number of travellers, then they enter the email address of all those travelling.

The first person continues and pays their own deposit/full balance as normal and all those travelling with them will receive an email with the same order number and instructions on how to make their deposit payment for the same trip- meaning no one person is responsible for paying or chasing up the rest of the group.

We recommend that our packages are booked via deposit / full payment at least 1 month prior to departure. Packages can still be purchased up to one week before departure but the buyer must contact us directly by e-mail or phone to confirm.

A minimum deposit amount of 25% can be paid to reserve a package so long as outstanding balance is paid at least 8 weeks before your departure date. The moment we receive your deposit we start processing your application and, therefore, it is non-refundable.

You must make any remaining payments by their due date. If we do not receive all payments due in full and on time we reserve the right to treat your booking as cancelled by you and retain all deposits paid or due at that time.

Depending on which package/s you have selected, you may be sent further forms to complete and return to us. Interrailingpackages reserves the right to postpone your package if you have not returned all the necessary completed forms to process your application within the required timeframes. Interrailingpackages also retains the right to refuse any application deemed unacceptable for any reason.

The prices of packages are subject to surcharges if increases occur in transportation costs (including fuel), dues, taxes (such as increases in or imposition of VAT or other Government imposed taxes) or fees chargeable for services such as landing taxes, tourist tax, embarkation/disembarkation fees at ports and at airports and currency fluctuation.

We will absorb and you will not be charged for any increase equivalent to 2% of the price of your travel arrangements, which excludes insurance premiums and any amendment charges. You will be charged for the amount over and above that. However, if this means that you have to pay an increase of more than 10% of the price of your travel arrangements, you will have the option of accepting a change to another package if we are able to offer one (if this is of equivalent or higher quality you will not have to pay more but if it is of lower quality you will be refunded the difference in price), or cancelling and receiving a full refund of all monies paid, except for any amendment charges. This type of price include may include though is not limited to certain events such as Oktoberfest, Football Tournaments & Olympic Games.

Interrailing Packages App

The Interrailing Packages App is our unique E-Travel Pack for your interrailing adventure. We will create a unique account on our app specifically for your trip where you will be able to access your trip itinerary, train times, reservation details & directions to the accommodation. Once you have downloaded your app, it can be accessed both online & offline throughout your trip.

Where possible we will provide you with up to 3 options for each train journey which you can choose as you wish on the day of travel. For the journeys where a reservation is required, you will have to travel on specific trains. We will contact you after you book your package to confirm all train times before you travel. This means you get the full flexibility of the interrail pass without having to worry about which train to get on and also you don’t have to sort reservations!

As well as the essentials above your E-Travel Pack also includes:

I have downloaded the Interrailing Packages App from the app store, why is it not working? 

If you have downloaded the app from the app store, this is our old app. Upon paying for your trip, you will receive access to your app (generally 3 weeks after full payment). The unique login and link to download the app will be sent to your email address where you can access all the above. As part of your E-Travel pack, you will be provided with a detailed train itinerary.

Interrailing Packages provide you with your rail pass to cover all train journeys while you are on your trip as well as any compulsory reservations. Our aim is to keep the cost of your trip down and keep everything as simple and straightforward as we can.

Interrailing Train Reservations 

As part of your interrailing package, we include any compulsory train reservations required for your trip. These reservations will be sent to you separately with your E-Travel Pack. Instructions and the details of these will be included on your train itinerary. Trains that don’t require a reservation only need your interrailing pass to board the train, you will be provided with up to 3 options to choose from to travel when you wish. We recommend printing your reservations and keeping them with your rail pass.

It is imperative that you stick to these options to ensure you don’t incur any additional costs.

While train reservations are not always compulsory it may be in your best interest to make a reservation, especially during peak times. However, this will be at your own expense.

What happens if I miss my train?

As you have multiple train options for each journey it is unlikely that you will miss all the trains. However, in the event that you do or in the event you miss one of the reserved train journeys the best thing to do is approach the information desk at the train station for assistance or call ourselves on the emergency contact number, there is always someone there to help!

Eurostar

Many of our pre-designed interrailing packages include return travel via London St Pancras station. You can choose to start your interrailing journey from here providing your first location is realistic, such as Paris, Berlin, Brussels, Amsterdam or Bruges. If you decide to go for London return, your first train from London St Pancras will be between 8am and 11am on the trip start date.

Interrailing Package Inclusions

All interrailing package inclusions are listed below:

INTERRAIL PASS: We provide you with an interrail pass to cover all of your journeys. All our package prices are based on youth interrail passes, our clients who are over 26 years of age at the time of travel will be required to pay an extra supplement for an adult interrail pass. The supplement cost will depend on the package.

COMPULSORY RESERVATIONS: Certain high-speed trains require costly reservations to be book and paid for months in advance. Interrailing Packages take the hassle away by booking and reserving any compulsory reservations on your trip.

HOTEL PACKAGE ACCOMMODATION: Throughout your trip, you will stay in one of our pre-selected hotel partners. All our hotel partners are 3 and 4-star accommodation, approved by the local tourist authority, central to the city and close to amenities and public transport. A hotel package offers more luxury for those looking for a little indulgence and relaxation throughout their stay.

HOSTEL PACKAGE ACCOMMODATION: Our hostel accommodation partners include some of the best-rated hostels in Europe. We work with the big names in hostel accommodation such as St Christopher’s, Generator & Meininger, to provide you with the best possible experience for your stay.

Private room options are also an option in the hostels where available. By staying with our partners you will also get access to some of their great facilities such as common areas to meet other guests, discounted food & drink, and discounted trips and kitchen facilities. Nearly all our partners offer free Wifi for our guests and the hostels are a fantastic place to meet and mingle with other travellers.

DETAILED TRAIN ITINERARY- TIME/CHANGE-OVERS/INSTRUCTIONS: As part of our E-Travel Pack, you will be provided with detailed train itineraries for your full trip. We provide all the information for your travels from departing time/station, right through to any change-overs involved and detailed instructions on any journeys which require reservations. Interrailingpackages put together travel options that are as efficient and cost-effective as possible so that any reservations are kept to an absolute minimum.

ACCOMMODATION DIRECTIONS & DETAILS: For your arrival in each city, you are provided with a detailed set of instructions/directions on how to get to your accommodation from the arriving train station. We provide all details including bus numbers, metro lines, and simple walking instructions so that you arrive at your accommodation safely. Your accommodation address is detailed on both your itinerary & direction documents to help you along the way.

APP ACCESS TO ALL YOUR DOCUMENTS: Interrailingpackages unique app gives you access to all your documents whilst on your trip. Once downloaded from the App Store/Google Play Store we load all your documents to the app and create you/your group a login code. The documents can be accessed at any time day or night. The App stores your documents so they can be accessed offline without any internet connection leaving you with no worries about getting internet/wifi connections. The documents can also be sent in electronic format for access via email or other mobile devices. We also load other documents to the app when required such as train/ferry tickets & bus tickets. In addition, you have the option of loading copies of your passport & travel insurance details to the app for safekeeping.

FREE FLIGHT ASSISTANCE SERVICE: Flights to your first city & home from the last are not included so Interrailingpackages have a FREE Flight Assistance Service to help you source the best available flights for your trip. Whether you are browsing or have already booked your trip with us, this service is still available for you to use free of charge. Email us with the Package you are interested in/have already purchased along with your estimated departure date(s) and nearest airport(s) and we will source the best available flight options for you and send you a link to book, saving hours of browsing through sites & possible routes.

FREE BASIC LANGUAGE/PHRASE GUIDE: Immerse yourself completely in each of your cities by using our basic language/phrase guide to communicate with the locals along the way. Our guide offers useful & simple phrases so that you can really feel part of the European experience. Locals love & appreciate when travellers take the time to try and speak their language and will be really helpful in return.

24 HOUR EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBER: Miss a train? Got a problem? Fear not! Each E-Travel Pack contains an emergency contact number enabling you to contact one of our team 24 hours a day 7 days a week. We are always at hand to ensure you are never alone and that any issues are resolved immediately. All our staff are fully trained and have immediate access to your trip itinerary so that you don’t spend too much time & money explaining who & where you are!

What’s not included in our interrailing packages?

What’s not included when you book an interrailing package:

• Whilst the Interrail / Eurail Passes cover your travel between cities, what’s not included in the cost is public transport. You will need to pay for any public transport. To assist you with this Interrailingpackages has teamed up with reputable tour companies such as GetYourGuide, CitySightseeing, and Viator, from whom you can purchase various city passes, sightseeing tickets and sightseeing buses. If you have booked a package, you can find out more about the above in your documents section on the app.
• City Tax is payable at nearly all cities across Europe. This tax is to cover your personal cost to the local area of using amenities such as trash can, public toilets etc. The tax in most instances must be paid in person when checking in/out of your accommodation in cash. Please make sure you check online via the local authorities of how much this is- the average is about €3 per person.
• Tour guides and sightseeing tickets are not included in our packages. All our tours are self-guided meaning your time is free to spend as you wish. If you want to find recommendations of things to do and get discounted sightseeing tickets, we offer city guides and experiences on our app.
• Flights to your first city and home from your final city are not included, it is up to the customer to have these arrangements in place before travelling.
• Meals are not included. Breakfast can be added as an optional extra

What do you need to bring/do for an interrailing trip? 

• Valid passport with at least 6 months’ validity.
• Your interrail pass and any reservations we have sent you
• Spending money – check out our blog on spending money here.
• Emergency money
• Money belt to keep money and travel documents safe
• Multi currencies – we offer a FairFX currency card which you can use for this purpose
• City tax: these can range from £0.40 per night in some parts of Spain – £6.23 per night in some parts of Italy, and must be paid in cash at your accommodation.
• Organise flights – If train travel from your country of origin is not included then it is your responsibility to arrange flights to your first location, and home from your last location.
• Shawl/scarf/cardigan to wear for churches visits as there is a strict policy that your shoulders are covered ie, Notre Dame, Vatican Museums
• Travel insurance information- we can provide you with a quote from our provider or you can take out your own policy
• Your mobile phone – which will have your Interrailing packages app with your itinerary, directions to your accommodation, and city guides which can all be accessed offline. You’ll also want your mobile phone to hand to take lots of amazing pictures.
• European adaptor plug
• Swimwear
• Windproof rain jacket

What I don’t need to bring/do for an interrailing trip

• To pre-call accommodation
• Visa – Brexit will not have an effect on tourist travel in or out of UK

• Padlock – lockers are available to you in all of the hostels

Interrailing Information for Parents

Parents of children going on an interrailing package the below includes all the necessary information about our packages:

• Under-18s are not permitted to travel without an adult.
• Under-18s are not permitted to stay in hostel accommodation – if travelling within a group where some are aged under 18 and are some are aged over 18 it will be necessary to book a hotel package.
• The Interrail pass, train reservations and all accommodation are all pre-booked and arranged as part of our package.
• We have an ongoing relationship with our affiliate hostels and hotels, having worked with them for many years. All of our affiliate partners are centrally located, have a social but safe atmosphere, and are well rated on trip advisor.
• All of the hostels and hotels that we are affiliated with provide their own bed linen, good facilities, and lockers.
• All of the information on your child’s Interrailing trip is pulled together in an app which they can then download to their phone and access offline. Parents also have the option to download this app with information on their child’s itinerary.  This app itinerary will include the exact train times, directions and contact information for the accommodation, and an emergency contact number for Interrailing Packages Ltd.
• Some of the cities/countries listed in our packages do not use the Euro currency but we do provide an FX multi-currency card which can be used when travelling.
• It is mandatory for all travellers to have travel insurance. We can provide a quote for travel insurance if requested.
• Laundry facilities are provided by the majority of our hotel and hostel partners

What is Interrailing?

Some of the trains in Europe require a reservation (a guaranteed or “reserved” seat), meaning you need it to board the train. This includes high-speed and night trains and many trains in France, Italy, and Spain.
